The City of Hobart is inviting community feedback on the new 2014-2019 City of Hobart Strategic Plan to guide planning and development over the next five years of the 2025 Vision. The SHSC submission can be viewed here (or see the pdf version). We encourage you all to read our submission and provide your own to before 25 March 2014.

In a nutshell, the SHSC submission asks the Council to:
- continue to drive the community to separate and recycle or compost their wastes;
- undertake a program to help all Hobart schools and Government offices (DPAC, DPIPWE, DIER, etc.) to achieve zero waste;
- take a larger role in environmental management and pollution control;
- remember primary school aged and old people when designing cycling facilities throughout the municipality;
- encourage young people to stay in the neighbourhood by providing fun infrastructure such as BMX/pump tracks, skate parks and fun exercise and skate activities stretched out along places such as the rivulet track;
- introduce local laws to ensure that cats are kept within their owner's properties (just like they did with dogs in the 1980's).
