Hobart Rivulet Park reopened The
Hobart Rivulet Park between Molle and McKellar Streets has
reopened. The redeveloped track is an average of 3m wide, with a concrete aggregate surface, textured to provide grip on wet days. The Council thanks the South Hobart community for its patience with the delayed completion of this development. There will be a formal opening for the path, which is expected to take place in October. Petition to City of Hobart re improvements to D'Arcy St, Washington St, Cascade Road "roundabout" City of Hobart is considering minor maintenance to the "roundabout" at this busy intersection. Due to a number of near-misses from pedestrians trying to cross between the shops and Hospital, or the playground/soccer ground, a number of residents feel that a safer crossing is necessary. The existing kerb ramps are difficult for wheelchairs and strollers to easily transition from footpath to road and back. The lack of defined crossing paths, or different surface treatments, makes it hard for drivers to know where to give way. If you also feel that improvement is needed, then please pop into the Macquarie Street Supermarket (Cascade Road/Darcy St IGA) or Ginger Brown to sign a petition to HCC to ask them to improve the safety of this "roundabout". If we don't request this now, there is a risk that the maintenance work will entrench the existing flaws. Sunday 2 October, 3pm Sylvia is hosting the Grower's Gathering, with Gaby providing tuition, so bring your secateurs and some old rags along. If you have a small sharpening stone you can also bring it. Gaby will bring the tools and WD40 etc along and we can bring our secateurs back to life! If interested, please contact Gaby for address details - soho.growers@gmail.com South Hobart Primary School Annual Fair Saturday 5 November, 10:30am - 2pm Come along and support the school community.
