Pancakes in the Park!

What: FREE pancakes in the park

When: Sunday 22nd November, 10-12 (and once a month thereafter if all goes well)

Where: The D'Arcy St Park

Who: Everyone who lives in South Hobart!

Why: We are hoping to provide a regular contact point for people interested in the SHSC, for use to get together regularly in a social setting, to share good food, ideas and to get to know our neighbours.

It is also intended that the breakfast will provide the beginnings of a database of local skills, such as hairdressing, bicycle maintenance, preserving, tutoring, lawn mowing etc... and from this we can start to share our time and skills.

Fingers crossed that the Hobart Bicycle Kitchen will also be at the first event to share their bike knowledge and tools.

Helpers wanted:

- to letterbox drop fliers

- flip pancakes on the morning

- anything else you think would be helpful...

For any questions or to get involved with the community building group, please contact pancake@southhobart.org or call Millie on 0412084863.

PLEASE, come along and have a chat, share ideas (and friends) and enjoy a pancake!

South Hobart Community Bushfire Forum

Wednesday 9th December 7:00pm, South Hobart Community Centre, Darcy St.

A Community Bushfire Forum will be held at the South Hobart Community Centre on Wednesday 9th December at 7:00pm. Speakers from the Tasmanian Fire Service will share the lessons learnt from the February Victorian Bushfires and encourage us to prepare effective bush fire plans in preparation for the imminent bush fire season. Essential for all South Hobart residents - if you are not directly at risk from fire, then potential for fire from ember attack is high for all residents.

Experts are already comparing conditions this year to those of 1967 and warning residents to be extremely cautious this season. Consider the effort, energy and resources required to re-establish your home. Protecting it from destruction is a fundamental part of being a sustainable household and community. Act now and attend this important seminar. This is a joint initiative of the South Hobart Progress Association and the South Hobart Sustainable Community.
